The Sharing the Dream student-led webcast series brings the excitement of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to classrooms across Canada. Each webcast explores youth issues related to culture, sustainability, sports & healthy living, Olympism, Paralympism and global citizenship. There are still plenty of opportunities for you to get your students and school involved in the upcoming webcasts and discussions. Last year’s webcasts are also archived to be viewed at your convenience.

Junior Team Canada

Junior Team Canada Economic Missions are teams of young Canadians who travel to foreign markets and explore business opportunities on behalf of Canadian business and industry. Team members network with government, business and education leaders in order to gather key market intelligence. In addition, our team examines the global issues that developing countries are facing, and how Canada can play a lead role in making a difference.

At the end of the mission, participants produce market reports that are presented to their sponsors. These reports are also used by Canadian companies and organizations to help further identify opportunities in foreign markets.

Each year, young Canadians compete for a spot on the Junior Team Canada Mission. To be eligible, youth must attend one of the Global Leaders Centers across Canada.

Youth organizations all have one mutual focus, and that is of course to advocate and support the rights of young people.

Some of these groups are Global Youth Coalition on HIV/Aids http://youthaidscoalition.org/ and Taking It Global http://takingitglobal.org/. Even international organizations like World Bank and United Nations have their own youth section with their department.

Another great organization to check out is Youth Coalition @ www.youthcoalition.com. They’re Canadian based and are one of the most professional youth organizations around offering an annual report each year about youth concerns and issues!

GT Manager makes meeting the Transitions requirements easy. Instead of having to deal with printing paper forms and physical submission, students can login to any computer with an internet connection (or even an iPhone or iPod Touch it turns out) and instantly submit their DPA hours, set goals, identify stressors, detail work or community service experiences, and communicate with their GT Coordinator.

It supports personal health, career & life, and community connections allowing students to log their DPAs, set nutritional goals, and identify stressors. In addition, students can create career profiles and planning worksheets – all without the hassle of paper forms!

Instead of tediously aggregating paper submissions, GT Manager can effortlessly give Coordinators a real-time view of all their students’ progress.

Advisors can track their students’ progress on individual requirements and even send them notices and reminders of upcoming deadlines.
